Terms of Service

Last Updated: August 10, 2026

Dori is currently offered as an early-access product operated by an individual founder, prior to formal incorporation of a company entity. In these Terms, "we," "us," and "the operator" refer to that individual, doing business as Dori. If a company entity is later formed to operate Dori, these Terms will be updated to reflect that, and continued use of the product after such an update constitutes acceptance of the change.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By joining the waitlist for, downloading, installing, or using Dori (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction, to use Dori. If you use Dori on behalf of an employer or client, you represent that you have the authority to agree to these Terms on their behalf and that your use complies with their own policies.

2. What Dori Is

Dori is a local-first AI executive assistant: a desktop application (and optional self-hosted engine) that stores your notes, tasks, and captures as plain Markdown files on your own device or infrastructure, and connects — only when you choose to — to third-party AI providers and integrations to help you draft, search, and organize that content.

Dori is currently in active early-access development. Features, pricing, and availability may change without notice, and the Service is offered without any guarantee of uptime, continuity, or feature completeness during this phase.

3. Not Professional Advice

Dori can help you draft documents, proposals, financial summaries, and other content using AI models. Nothing Dori produces constitutes legal, financial, tax, medical, or other professional advice. You are solely responsible for reviewing, verifying, and taking responsibility for any content Dori helps you create or any decision you make based on it, before relying on it or sending it to anyone else.

4. Third-Party Services and AI Providers

Dori is designed to connect to services you choose and control, including but not limited to: AI model providers (such as Anthropic, OpenAI, Groq, and OpenRouter, or CLI-based subscriptions like Claude Code, Codex, Antigravity, or Grok), Google (Drive, Calendar, Meet), Microsoft (Graph API / Copilot, for Teams transcripts), GitHub, Fathom, Tailscale, WhatsApp, and any Model Context Protocol (MCP) server you configure.

Each of these is a separate, independent service governed entirely by its own terms of service, privacy policy, and pricing. We are not a party to your agreement with any of them, do not control their availability, accuracy, security, or output, and disclaim all liability for their acts, omissions, downtime, pricing changes, policy changes, or handling of your data once you've connected them. You are responsible for reading and complying with each provider's own terms before connecting it to Dori, and for any usage charges you incur with providers you connect using your own API keys or subscriptions.

WhatsApp integration specifically: Dori's WhatsApp integration uses an independent, open-source library that replicates the WhatsApp Web protocol. It is not an official WhatsApp Business API integration, and it is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or approved by WhatsApp Inc. or Meta Platforms, Inc. Connecting WhatsApp to Dori is entirely at your own risk, including the risk that WhatsApp restricts or bans the account you use, under WhatsApp's own terms of service — a risk we have no control over and no liability for.

5. Your Data and Vault

You retain full ownership of the content in your vault. We claim no ownership over it. You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the right to store, process, and share any content you put into Dori — including client data, business records, or information belonging to other people — and for complying with any laws or agreements that apply to that content.

6. Self-Hosted and VPS Deployments

If you choose to deploy Dori's engine on your own server or VPS instead of running it locally, you are solely responsible for securing that infrastructure, including your host authentication token, network exposure, and any consequences of misconfiguration. We have no access to and no responsibility for infrastructure you operate yourself.

7. Data Sync Integrations

Vault sync integrations (GitHub, Google Drive, OneDrive) are provided "as is" to facilitate syncing your vault to infrastructure you own. We are not responsible for data loss, merge conflicts, or repository/drive corruption that may occur. Maintain your own backups.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

DORI IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT AI-GENERATED OUTPUT WILL BE ACCURATE OR RELIABLE.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL WE BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR BUSINESS, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF DORI OR ANY THIRD-PARTY SERVICE CONNECTED TO IT, WHETHER IN CONTRACT, TORT, OR OTHERWISE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF DORI SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US, IF ANY, IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE, OR (B) ₹1,000. DURING THE FREE EARLY-ACCESS PERIOD, THIS AMOUNT IS ZERO.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you to the extent they conflict with mandatory law.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim, loss, or damage, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your use of Dori, your content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party service's own terms while using it through Dori.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to Dori at any time, particularly during the early-access phase, including for violation of these Terms. You may stop using Dori at any time; your local vault data remains yours and on your device regardless.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "Last Updated" date above. Continued use of Dori after a change constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of Dori shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of India.

14. Severability and Entire Agreement

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding Dori.
